1-on-1 Work
Grounded in the tools of nonviolent communication and mindful self-compassion, I will support you in:
- gaining an understanding of the obstacles you are facing in navigating a specific challenge,
- identifying one or more actions towards mitigating this challenge,
- taking away tools that will support you in relating to yourself and to the situation with more understanding and compassion.
Self-Compassion
Being self-compassionate is similar to tending a garden. You can’t read about it, you got to do the work. Cultivating self-compassion is an experiential process: it grows over time with practice.
Not all plants will grow in your local area. Not all self-compassion practices will resonate with you. Cultivation entails finding practices that will support you in building resilience to life’s stress.
I offer Dr Karen Bluth’s and Lorraine Hobb’s Mindful Self-Compassion for Teens (formerly known as Making Friends with Yourself). I also offer Kristin Neff’s and Chris Germer’s Mindful Self Compassion for adults and an adaptation for young adults.
